Our Mission
We aim to empower people by:
providing a maker space with all the equipment needed.
providing expierenced and innovative local tutors for the different courses.
providing international skilled and specizialized tutors for workshops based on their specialization trade.
The South African public education system has many shortcomings.
Limited access to hand craft skills like woodworking, sewing, decorative crafting and other hand crafts training
Economic and social challenges restricting opportunities
On top of it public schools are overcrowded and teachers are struggling with discipline
Skillz Den is based on the philosophy that given the opportunity, everyone, both young and old, can learn different hand craft skills. We believe that hand crafting and creativity are powerful forces for social change and that creative entrepreneurship can be developed in this way.
Skillz Den uses innovative and immediately applicable workshops in different handcraft skills to teach people work-based learning strategies.
We have expierienced and competent local tutors and look forward to presenting more projects and workshops with international tutors.
Through our courses we want to facilitate the ongoing development and life-long learning of the individual by:
gaining hands-on experience in various hand crafts.
building confidence and work-ready skills.
empowering him/her with skills for everyday living.
